oil change
We Purchased A 2013 Grand Caravan A Few Months Ago...We Are At 5100 Miles And The Oil Change Light Has Still Not Come On...I've Never Waited This Long To Change My Oil, But Was Trying To Depend On This Feature...How Many Miles Is Too Many To Wait?
Here is what the 2013 manual says:
The last line is the important one, with today's oil and engine technology you can go up to 10,000 miles before needing an oil change.

Your vehicle is equipped with an automatic oil change indicator system. The oil change indicator system will remind you that it is time to take your vehicle in for scheduled maintenance. Based on engine operation conditions, the oil change indicator message will illuminate. This means that service is required for your vehicle. Operating conditions such as frequent short-trips, trailer tow, extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures, and E85 fuel usage will influence when the "Oil Change Required" message is displayed. Severe Operating Conditions can cause the change oil message to illuminate as early as 3,500 miles (5,600 km) since last reset. Have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible, within the next 500 miles (805 km).
NOTE: Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or twelve months, whichever comes first.

So does my 2008. The Grand Caravans were re-engined for the 2011 MY. It's not entirely unreasonable that they would change the oil change interval.
on the 3.6l engine, As far as warranty concerned, you only have to change the oil every 8000miles. But as far as your own long term ownership's concern, I would not go over 5000miles on Conventional oil.
I think the owner's manual interval are suppose to be for Synthetic Blend oil, which many other Car Manufacturer are using on their newer cars.
Not really. here is your proof how little the engineers knows.

I am old school, I change the oil with Synthetic oil on all my family's car every 5-6k miles. My car has 95k miles currently, and it doesn't seem to burn a drop of oil.

I change filter and oil every 7k on my '98.
If we're going to dive into the 'witch oil' discussion: I use the gold Pennzoil 5qt high-mileage 5w-30 for my 3.0 because you can get it $17.00 and it has cleaning agents, even though what I'm typically told and read is that most oil gunk up except Castrol..
I also read and hear using synthetic only allots 2k more miles on changes and has little to no advantage effect under thermal conditions.. Most career mechanics I see use whatever is cheapest, so good luck figuring that all out..
