Default Ding oil light is on

So I have been getting an oil light for the past couple of months, yes I checked the oil level and it is fine. The weird thing is that it only comes on after the engine is up to temp, and when the van is at a stop, or making a slow sharp turn, and it's not a consistant...example I get to a stop and it will come on steady for a couple of seconds then it might stop and come on and off for a couple of more seconds, but once I give it gas it turns off.

Could it be a bad sensor, or could the oil pressure be low when I'm not moving??

one of two things, try the easiest first, check the connection at the probe, could be bad, or the pickup screen or pump may be faulty. Have you ever used any kind of oil additive? You would be surprised what they will break loose.

I never put any additives in it. I will check the connections. Can the oil light point to any other problems???

JMO, but I would want this resolved the FIRST time the light came on, with as little driving as possible until it is. The basic thing to do is an oil pressure test. Althugh the problem is very likely to be just a bad oil sensor, there is another possibility as well . And there is no way to tell from the light which one it is.

cv2003 is totally right, old school mechanical oil pressure gauges are a lot less expensive than engine work.
