2006 caravan se 3.3 poor gas mileage
around 89000 on vehicle
My mileage dropped considerable when changed out the original spark plugs and put in ngk v series plugs. engine backfires a little and stumbles sometimes.
was going to r & r the pcv but the hose is very hard.. is this normal and if not can someone give me a part number or location to find a replacement.
can you change the back plugs without removing the cowl.
would the ignition coil also be part of the problem.. never been replaced..
thanks ken

Champion dbl plat are the plugs of choice on these vans. Other brands have been observed to cause problems, especially Bosch. Based on what you said, it would probably be best to replace the NGKs with Champs before trying anything else.
Some guys apparently have no problems doing the plugs without pulling the cowl out. I'm not one of that group, and wouldn't even consider doing anything back there without removing the cowl. I think a person's size and arm length might be a big factor in the need to remove the cowl or not.
Unlike my '03, I believe your '06 PCV is a PITA to change. You could do it while the cowl is off, but personally I would want to know if the bad gas mileage was cause by the NGKs. And, if you've been good with the oil changes, the PCV may not need to be changed for a long time.
