2010 Caravan 4.0 Electrical Issues- Dash
Randomly now becoming more often. Started on extremely hot days, stop and go traffic or a long trip followed by stop and go. All dash lights tach and speedo go haywire , all dash lights flashing on and off, eventually staying on until the ignition is switched off and back on. At that point the service engine still remains on until a further on off or two of the ignition after a couple of short trips, sometimes may take a day or so after the episode.
Up until to-day the van performance has not been affected. However to-days episode happened on a short ride cooler weather, Switched the van off to cancel the light show, to my surprise nothing happened would not restart. After sitting in traffic for 15 minutes it did start lights out with exception to the service engine.
1st time I approached the dealer, no satisfactory diagnosis,
Appreciate any thoughts or ideas on this ?
Thanks
Paul

They're not going to give you a diagnosis until they can pin it down, being that it's intermittent. As for me, I would have to see a scan report to point you in a direction. The BUS circuits, especially the high speed interior, can show multiple symptoms if just one output of one module fouls up. If it's inhibiting your starting, then I would look to a starting point such as the Gateway (TIPM) or something that intersects the C-BUS and the IHS BUS like the Cluster or the Wireless Control Module.
Complexity is the enemy of reliability. The whole world is drowning in it these days.

With the integration or more and more computers, EVERYTHING is a request signal and gets handled by a module to control the output. Sometimes a module will signal another module to control an output. The stated purpose for all this was less wiring, safety, bla bla, etc.
That's all well and good, but with all the little skinny wires, tiny terminals and the amount of tasks going back and forth over the BUS circuits, the percentage of intermittent electrical issues have grown substantially.
Some days most of the repair orders I get start off with....
"Customer States, At Times . . . . . . . ."

2010 Dodge Grand Caravan===Just to put my two cents in....I have had this issue for 15 months now. My dash board lights with begin going crazy, radio goes off, clock goes off, dinger starts dinging, speedometor, etc wildly goes up and down, and finally the van just dies, especially if I have to slow down. It used to start up again, but now I have to sit and block traffic until I hear a slight sound behind the CD player, that sounds like a computer shutting down. This takes about 5-7 minutes. The van will start then. However, I have been sitting in traffic, with NO warning lights/flashers, or ability to roll windows up or down. The vehicle has been to the dealer numerous times, a TIPM module was changed. Still, no better. I am scared to drive my car for fear that someone will crash into my rear. Not to mention that my job involves constant travel. So I have had to take days off, rent a replacement vehicle, etc, etc. I am due to take the van back in to Dodge AGAIN, Monday so they can drive it and see if it happens. Any suggestions????
If this applies you may want to have this done if not done already:
