Hi.

I have a 3.8 liter dodge caravan. It seems to overheat at halfway up the temp gauge without the fan coming on. With no code thrown could this still be the coolant temp sensor?

The temp gauge seems to run on a quarter at operating temp then hot at half way. Where is the sensor? Thanks

 

Update solved. I found the temperature sensor under the Ignition module. It was where I thought it would be but it looks so different from the new part that I didn't think it was the part. The original appeared to be a cheap plastic part. The replacement part actually had a metal probe, threads and tightening nut. Money well spent to get a higher quality updated part that keeps the van from over heating.
