Have a 1999, 4 cylinder, 2.4 L Dodge Caravan with automatic transmission;
after hauling heavier than recommended load on a hitch, transmission started making noise; the noise was later accompanied by hard and difficult shifting, specially last gear. Once engaged all runs fine, but problem getting worse. Wonder if any advice can be given for the DIY? many thanks

 

I would recommend drop the transmission pan and inspect. Also check the band adjustments. If you have a 3 speed transmission. If you have a 4 speed, then you need to check for codes and check the CVI readings.
