Default 05 Caravan Remote start issue

Hello just bought a new to me van. It has remote start. Car attempts to start 3x but wont run. Took to dealer to have it checked out they said it was Skreem Interface Module part number #5140468aa. Got it home Im one that likes to do things myself if I can rather then pay out the rear for dealer. Where might I find this part and is this something I can do from home?

SKIM? DIY? No. Hopefully someone can jump in here and say I'm wrong but as I recall the dealer has to program it and marry the SKIM to your system. You can buy the SKIM yourself but they would have to install it and program it. Check with your dealer first. Some won't program modules bought outside their channels.

I Googled your part number and came up with many hits. Here's one: http://moparonlineparts.com/oemparts/5140468AA

You can buy the part from the dealer, it is still available. It is the module that pretends to be a good skim key when the remote start is actuated. It looks like you should be able to program it yourself as long as you have 2 good skim keys for the vehicle. It is basically like programming a new key. I can't seem to find the installation instructions for that year Caravan but they use the same module for the Pacifica and I found the instructions for that and it is something you could do. Not sure if you have the manual for the remote start but there might be a number in there you could call.

Checked with the guy that installs our remote starts and he said the procedure is the same for all these systems so I'll list it here if you'd like to try it. He said he would try it for your old module first because they can glitch and lose programming.

A. Close hood
B. Insert one of the two valid Sentry Keys into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch to the "on" position
C. After the ignition has been activated for more than 3 seconds (but no more than 15 seconds), cycle the ignition switch back to the "off" position. Remove the key and keep it at least 2 feet away from the ignition switch.
D. Within 15 seconds of removing the first key, insert the second valid Sentry Key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch to the "on" position.
E. Approximately 10 seconds after the ignition has been activated by the second Sentry Key, the dash theft-security light will start to flash, and a single audible chime (not the key-in-cylinder chime) will sound to indicate that the system has entered "Customer Learn" programing mode.
F. Cycle the ignition switch back to the "off" position. Remove the key and keep it at least 2 feet away from the ignition switch. Theft-security light will turn off.
G. Press and release the programming button located on the custom harness. (Install guy says it is a black button usually tie wrapped somewhere around the diagnostic connector)
H. Within 60 seconds, press the start button on the remote start transmitter (2) times.
I. Approximately 10 seconds after completion of Step H, a single audible chime will sound and the theft-security light will stop flashing and stay on solid for 3 seconds, and then turn off to indicate that the SKREEM Interface module has been successfully programmed.
J. The system will remote start the engine approximately 15 seconds after Step H. Press the brake pedal to shut down the remote start system. NOTE: In some vehicles, during the SKREEM Interface learn procedure, the vehicle will start and stall on the first remote start attempt. The second remote start attempt will be successful. This is a normal condition of the learn procedure. Once a SKREEM Interface Module has been programmed to a vehicle, it is permanently assigned to that vehicle and cannot be used on another vehicle.

Good info here. So do I still need to find a new module or try and reprogram the one I have? I do in fact have 2 keys.

Try to reprogram the one you have first. If it doesn't work, probably need a new one.
