[2nd Gen : 91-95]: 94 3.3 Caravan with lots of issues
I have currently been doing some work on my 94 caravan. There are several issues with it, so I will break them down separately, and hopefully someone will have some suggestions as to the possible solutions. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Vent door trouble:
The van is having some trouble with the vent doors switching correctly. When the fan is not on, the doors will change, but when the fan is put on high, a loud slam is heard, and the vents default to defrost.
Currently, I have checked and verified vacuum lines. I found several broken lines and repaired them and also installed a new check valve in the engine compartment for these lines. Now, the vent doors are switching better, however, there is an audible hissing coming from the heater controls. could this be a sign of a faulty heater control? The vent doors still slam shut and default to defrost when the fan is turned on high.
Cruise control not working:
It has been a while since any thorough testing has been done on this. Last time I looked at this for a period of time, my memory serves me that I was getting the 12v to the cruise servo. Upon investigation of the vacuum lines, it was also determined that vacuum was not getting to the servo. This has been fixed. The steering wheel switches have been replaced also. As a last resort, I was able to come across another servo, and tried it with no luck.
Rear wiper not working:
Tested rear wiper motor outside of car, and it works. It appears that voltage is getting back to the motor, and the rear wiper button lights up when turned on. Again, I was able to obtain another wiper motor. However, this wiper motor had been in motion when the power was cut to it. So, upon plugging it into the car, the wiper motor ran itself to the park position and would not do anything else. Is there a relay that drives this motor, or is it something else?
Conclusion:
Any input is appreciated, however the real question is that if both the cruise and rear wiper are both dead, could this possibly be traced back to a body control mod issue?

The hissing sound maybe a vacuum leak around the control head, The clockspring also controls the speed control. Does the horn blow? And last, there is a fuse for the air bag circuit and is also for the rear wiper motor. It was common for the wiper motor to short out and blow the fuse. This was also a recall at one time, along with the clockspring. If you send me a pm with the last 9 of the vin, I can tell you if there are any outstanding recalls.
First of all, I sent you the VIN to the car.
Now, to answer some further questions. When you referenced the control head, do you mean the vacuum valve for the heater control? This is sort of what I was thinking, but wanted someone smarter than me to confirm.
As for the cruise control:
Fuses are good, have voltage to the servo, and the horn works. Also tried different servo and steering wheel switches. ( was able to get a handfull of parts from another van prior to it being scrapped)
Rear wiper:
Fuse is good, tested motor externally and it tests good. Also tried different motor, as mentioned initially. No airbag light, however when fuse is removed, airbag light comes on. The light on the rear wiper switch also illuminates when pressed. Neither the rear wiper or rear washer work. Rear wash has not had any testing done on it.

You may need to open the rear lift gate panel and inspect the wiring. There is also a rear washer pump for the rear window. Make sure the bottle is full, If you don't see any fluid coming out of the nozzle. You either have a bad pump or wiring. I checked for any outstanding recall's. There are no outstanding recall's that need to be done.

where is the body control module located on 94 caravans? My cruise control, horn, dash board panal lights, instrument cluster lights and interior lights don't work. My door-lock switches work. My interior lights do come on if I use the dimmer switch but the lights will not dim. I would have to drag the dimmer switch all the way to the right to the lock position to get my interior lights on.
If I replace it with another BCM will I have to take it to the dealership to get it reprogrammed?
