[2nd Gen : 91-95]: Good factory stereo replacement?
I have almost as many OEM Chrysler Infinity and Dodge stereos for my 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan (and my former 1992 Chrysler Town & Country) as I have fingers. Each is defective in its own special way.
One has nonsense volume control, where the volume **** makes suggestions but the radio chooses what it wants.
One shuts down randomly and only works again if you bang it and say "aaaaayyyyyy"
Another will work fine for a few weeks, then dies, then bring itself back to life some time later.
Still another has buttons that you can only push if the humidity is low enough and the sun shines at just the right angle.
My most recent is just a plain Dodge radio with two band equalizer which spontaneously doesn't work any more. All other radio swaps were in the Town and Country. This is the first swap for the Dodge. And naturally, the radio I put in (one of the old ones) magically worked for a week and now it's 9:02 all the time with no sound.
I am looking for a good non-oem replacement radio. I like having the physical ***** and buttons for tuning, seek, scan, presets, pan, and equalizer (5 band preferred). And an aux jack would be nice, though I do have a pretty good FM transmitter for my mp3 player.
My current van seems to have the wiring available for the Infinity system (four wires to each speaker) but I hooked up an Infinity speaker from my T&C to the current radio (also Infinity) and got no sound from it (though the speaker could also be bad).
Anywho, recommendations?
