[4th Gen : 01-07]: 06 grand caravan sxt p0204
my 3.8 liter Dodge Grand Caravan SXT had a code P 02 04. My mechanic who I told to check the wiring said it was the injector Number Four. He changed the injector and spark plugs and wires and the valve cover gasket and the intake manifold gasket the serpentine belts and the the ignition coil.it cost me $600 for parts and labor. I got the car back and it showed a miss and the same code P 02 04. He Check the wires for continuity from the PCM to the injectors and said the PCM is bad. My question is he told me it would be 130 points for labor 220 for the PCM. Should I have him replace it for free since he never checked the wires and misdiagnosed it? He charges 70$ an hour for labor. It shouldn't take mores than an hour to replace it, Should it?
Welcome aboard. Shouldn't take more than half an hour. If the mechanic has any integrity whatsoever, he will forgo the labor fee and just charge you for the part. Reading it again, he's clueless. Sounds like he went on a fishing expedition at your expense. Did you give him permission to change all those parts or did he just see an opportunity to make some bucks and jumped on it? The only thing changed that has anything to do with a P0204 was the injector. Find another mechanic or change it yourself. A PCM is plug and play.
130 points ???

It was 130 dollars. Not points. Do most of typing on phone so I tried the voice typing. I figured I would have him do all the other stuff since I needed it done anyway. I got him down to 70 dollars. Its at his shop anyway. Its hard to trust anyone. I usually do it myself but did not have the time. Hopefully it fixes the problem. Thanks for you help
