GC clutch or compressor??
2005 Grand Caravan, holds air, plenty of pressure, but the A/C blows hot. Shop said the clutch is slipping and I need a whole new compressor. When I run the car and turn on the A/C I don't see anything under the alternator turning. If it's not turning how does he know it's not just the clutch? What kind of dollars am I looking at?
Thank you

Often the labor required to separate the clutch from the compressor costs more than just replacing the whole compressor/clutch assembly. Compressors with clutch attached typically run a few hundred dollars plus the labor for discharging the refrigerant and recharging it and checking for leaks.
There is also a sensor or valve that prevents the A/C system from freezing over by cutting the power to the clutch, I forget what it's called. If that sensor is toast, it could give the symptoms you're describing.
