Default 2006 caravan problems

I have a 2006 caravan. The other day I was waiting with the van running And the AC running. Engine started acting like it was going to stall. I gave it gas and it evened out.then within a few minutes it did it again. I gave it gas and it leveled out again. Then it did it several times in succession and then stalled. When I tried to start it, it would try to turn over but acted like there was no fuel. It has a half tank. I tried many times to start it and got the same thing. I left the van at my DR's for 2 days got a tow company to come pick it up. I tried to start the engine before they showed up, same results. I tried twice when the driver got there and the first time same thing. Second time it caught and I drove it home.

When this first happened a passing mechanic said it is most likely the fuel pump. The person who came to pick me up is a mechanic said the same thing. The tow driver got there and when it didn't start the first time he said it needs oil. When it started right after he said it was probably air in the fuel line.

How do you get air in the fuel line firstly? Is it likely that this is the problem? Is it possible this is the prelude to the fuel pump dying? I just wondered if anyone could enlighten me?

Welcome to DF

Here are a couple of things to try, First remove the fuel line and check the line for fuel. No fuel, maybe fuel pump or bad AIS relay. 2nd when the engine doesn't start, have someone try starting the engine and bang on the fuel tank with a rubber mallet. If it starts, then the problem maybe the fuel pump.

sounds like the tow truck driver had no clue. Can you just check the service port instead of pulling the line master tech?
