Thank you DodgeCACares,
Sounds reasonable.

Ticking noise again. It’s the third time replacing the rocker arm assembly under warranty. Just under 100000km. This can’t be normal. The dealership has been good doing the work replacing the parts but I am concerned about them trying to find the cause.
I keep asking them to investigate the matter further. Maybe contact Chrysler and find out what can possibly be causing this. I keep telling the service advisor that they are fixing the effect but the cause needs to be investigated. For some reason this is ignored.
The following is a description of what has happened. Exactly the same all three times.

When the van was brand new it was fine up until the weather got cooler in the autumn. I would start the engine and there would be a ticking noise, after a few seconds the noise would stop. This would continue throughout the winter progressively get worse until the noise would never go away with the ticking getting louder. This was repaired in the spring of 2012 and spring of 2013. With both instances it was fine up until the weather got cooler in the autumn then it would start again.

It is doing it again. The ticking is back at start-up and is in the shop and the rocker arm assembly is being replace for the third time. There must be something else that is causing this problem. I really wish they would investigate this further.

I understand regular maintenance needs to be done. I certainly don’t think that this is one that qualifies as a regular maintenance item.

Any one with the same experience any one with a suggestion of what it can be and how it can be fixed.

Hey DodgeCaravan2010SXT,

I really don't think you need to worry. I don't think that this is a wide spread problem. (I hope).

I am frustrated with the dealership. After the third time of replacing the Rocker Assembly and after me asking the service adviser to please investigate this further so that the real cause can be figured out, all that he told me was to do an engine flush every once in a while. That is ridiculous and insulting. It started ticking the first winter I had it. It was still a new engine. No way there was any type of build up in the engine to cause this. Also I am sure that the maintenance manual advises against any additives and such. I can't believe he said that with a straight face.

As far as me demanding a new engine I wish that I could do this. Hard to demand anything if the dealership can't take the time to investigate the problem any further. I am hoping that Chrysler Canada will help to find the real problem and permanent fix. Not sure what else I can do.

same dealer that fixed it 3x. I try another. possibly they would find issue. I get the dealer manager to write that on a work order that flushing the engine will solve issue and not cause issue due to the manual from Chrysler stating that it should not do it. they be responsible for engine damage if it occurs. I thnk they change there tune. ya hopefully dodgecares can sort this out for you. 3 x I think something wrong. caint keep just replacing and throwing parts at it without knowing.

I have concerns on mine as well. Early on I brought mine in and was told this was normal of the 4.0l . At times its louder and then not too bad. Never replaced anything but I am concerned. Now at 160000 kms but I don't like it. Not happy that Chrysler dropped the ball on mine now it's out of warranty.
