Default Need help with 2000 3.0 engine oil pan removal!

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Hi everyone. Nube here with a question on removing the oil pan on a 2000 Caravan 3.0 liter engine.

Heres the deal. The oil pan is leaking from a rust hole. I've already purchased the new pan and gasket. However, after I watched a video on youtube on removing the pan on a 2001, I figured it would be an easy job. Ha! Once I climbed under the engine and looked...holy moly. I've searched and searched for CORRECT info on what and how to remove this pan. No luck. However, what I actually SEE, is a mindblower. It appears, I have to remove the starter, and a bracket that encloses the starter, and a bracket that goes to what looks like is an engine mount. But then...around the rear seal, it looks like the pan actually enters the transmission. I don't see any thing to remove to get to the bolts within that area. What a nightmare. Just for a pan. sheeesh.

Soooooooo...I'm wondering if anyone here can point me to a diagram, or knows how exactly what I have to do here. It appears, I may have to support the engine somehow, in order to remove that engine mount bracket. I really need to get this done quick as my daughter needs the car for work. So any help I can get is really appreciated. I didn't want to arbitrarily start removing things until I got some info. Thanks everyone.

Starter needs to come out. The front mount needs to come out (support the engine before you do this). The dust shield needs to come off the trans. Then unbolt the pan (drain oil first). Bolt the new one up and put it back together in reverse order.

The motor mount is the "bracket that encloses the starter". It looks like 2 peices from the bottom, but it's actually one large mount. 4 Bolts including the one the goes through the rubber IIRC. I also want to say 4 hold the dust cover on.

Ok smokesxt. Thanks. Saw a youtube on it. Unfortunately, I can't even get the dang starter off...yet. Worst design I've ever seen. There oughtta be a law that requires the engineer to work on his own designs..5 years after the car is designed.

Voila! Starter off. Engine mount off. Brackets off. Once the starter was out of the way, the rest was easy...er...wait. No...but at least I could SEE the bolts. Unfortunately, sometimes it seems like you NEVER have enough sockets to do the job. In this case..18 & 19mm DEEP 1/2" drive. The only breaker bar I have is half inch. And it TAKES a breaker. Normally, I have a pipe to slip over my 3/8" ratchet to break things loose. But I just moved here and my entire garage is a disaster. Had to stop and go buy the sockets.

One GOOD thing though. While I was under the car,(cussing out loud at the lack of the right socket) I just happened to see what was causing the noise...

Hahahahaha. Easy fix. Cheap too. Completly broke. No wonder. Well, time to go pull this doggone pan and install the new stabilizer link. Got too late and cold last night. Thanks again smokesxt. oh..ps.. new cars aren't the ONLY thing getting worse either. But that's a story for another day.

Yahoooee. Oil pan off. Unbelievable. This calls for a cold TwoRollingEyes cult beer and a shot of DoubleFacePalm.
