Default Caravan running rough

I have a 1999 2.4L Caravan. The Service Engine Soon light recently illuminated and the vehicle began running a little rough. The last time I had this problem I just did plugs and wires, and the problem was solved. I just did the same thing with no good results. It has almost 190k on it, so Im not going to crazy over it. I have never had any issues with this vehicle. Any ideas from anyone would be a big help. Thanks.

What code is turning on the SES light? Autozone or the like will scan codes for free.

Default 1999 CARAVAN running rough

Went to Auto Zone, got a code P0405,which showed the EGR system. I picked up a new EGR. Before taking the valve out I saw that the small section of vacuum hose that attaches from the transducer to the valve was almost broken in 2. Figured I install it anyway. Started the van up....runs much better, but should the Service Engine Lght out,or does it take a while?...Thanks

It will stay on until the computer realizes the problem has been corrected. You can clear it early with a scan tool or by disconnecting the battery for a while.

Disconnected the Neg lead on battery and re connected it about 20 mins later. Went for a drive and the light stayed of and it is running much smoother. I probably coild have just spliced in a small section of vacuum hose, but after 186k I can't complain. To remove the one bolt from the pipe that connects into the EGR was a pain. An offset 10mm wrench would have come in handy and to remove the solenoid connector, the plug has a red clip that needs to be pushed back so the plug can unsnap. Thought I share this in case someone else needs to do the same.
