Default Jacking Points ('08 Grand caravan)

Hi all,

On my other cars it's been pretty easy to figure out where to put my floor jack and jackstands, but I'm not 100% sure with my 2008 Grand Caravan. So i'm looking for a little advice.

I included a picture from under the car, right behind the front wheels. I'm wondering if the area I circled in yellow is safe to put a floor jack on? If not, where would you advise it?

Thanks all,

Phil

Welcome to the forum. I would say any suspension mounting point is good. There should be a diagram of the jack points in the spare tire area or your owners manual will tell you.

Thanks for the reply,

The owners manual is kind of lacking... it only gives the 4 pinch weld points for use with the scissor jack that comes with the van.

The area I circled looks pretty rugged, I just wanted a second opinion.

I'm new to automotive work. I did the upper intake manifold gasket on this van, and a few oil changes on my ford focus. So i'm not overly experienced. Which is why i wanted to make sure of these lifting points before I did something stupid :-)

Thanks again...

I know i'm over thinking this... I have a bad tendency of doing that.

I found a drawing showing the lifting points. They are annotated by an upside down triangle printed into the metal right?

I attached the lifting point drawing, and then my photo with the area I think it is circled in red. Look right?

Thanks again, sorry for being annoying lol.

yes that's about right for the car jack. although if you use floor jack use the bottom of the suspension. I ended bending the point on the area where the jack goes.

Your drawing shows the correct lift points for a garage hoist which can also be used for a flat top floor jack. As long as you can place the jack at the point where you find the triangles, you're good to go.

The pinch welded points along the outside seam should only be used for the jack that came with the van.
