[5th Gen : 08+]: 09 GC & Recall L25
Howdy - my 2009 Grand Carava has shut off three times while my wife was driving and once for my daughter. It really seems like the problem described in the NHTSA recal 11V-139 (Manufacturer recall # L25). We have had it into the dealer and they of course can not find anything wrong with it. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem?
I talked to Chrysler's customer service about this last week. They said there are no parts available to fix anything at this point and they do not know when there may be. Short of getting a new vehicle, is there anything I can do to fix the problem?
Thanks!
Update!
Can anyone tell me what a "SECONDARY WIN DETENT SYSTEM" is?
I just saw this on safercar.gov:
NHTSA Recall Number: 11V-139
Recall Date: June 16, 2011
Manufacturer Recall Number: L25
SUMMARY:
THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) MODULE MAY HAVE UNINTENTIONAL MOVEMENT OF THE FREQUENCY OPERATED BUTTON IGNITION KEY (FOBIK) FROM THE ON TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION WHILE DRIVING.
SAFETY RISK:
THIS COULD CAUSE UNINTENDED ENGINE SHUT OFF AND INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS.
REMEDY:
THE WIN MODULE MUST BE INTERROGATED USING A WITECH SCAN TOOL AND CERTAIN WIN MODULES WILL HAVE A SECONDARY WIN DETENT SYSTEM INSTALLED.
RECALL STATUS:
Recall INCOMPLETE

No experience with it but this statement is in the Chrysler L25 recall narrative sent to 2010 owners.
Until this repair is completed, the vehicle can be driven. However, as a precaution, all
drivers are advised to remove all objects from the FOBIK (such as additional keys, key
chains, etc.) and ensure that the FOBIK is securely and correctly aligned in the “On”
position and not aligned between the “On” and “Accessory” position before driving the vehicle.

Have they added 2009 minivans to the recall?

I got a notice about the recall on my '08 about 5 months ago. I haven't had any problems with shutoff even though I have a gob of keys on the ring. The only thing I've encountered is the key at times not returning to the on position completely after starting. The van will be running but none of the turn signals, radio, A/C, etc will turn on until I tweak it over.
