[4th Gen : 01-07]: transmission problem
Hello. I have an 06 dodge grand caravan with a 3.8. On Monday the van started having a problem moving forward and backward and will not roll freely in neutral. When u put it in reverse or forward it will roll about a inch and then it stops. When u accelerate it gets to 2000 rpms them it starts hopping. I have no idea what it could be. Can someone tell me what I should look at to start repairing it. Thank you
Fluid level good? Check engine light on? Are the brakes releasing? Jack it up and try spinning the tires. Dropping the fluid pan and changing the fluid and filter would be a good move. Use only ATF+4 fluid. While there, if you see debris in the pan beyond the normal "fuzz" on the magnets you have internal problems and a transmission rebuild or replacement will be needed.
