Default Intermittent limp mode

I have an 03 Caravan with 3.3.

It displays codes P0700 - TCM and P1684 - battery.

It goes in and out of limp mode, which seems odd to me. Does anyone out there have any experience with this issue? I don't want to start throwing parts at it.

Thanks! Mike

The P0700 is telling you the TCM is storing a code and it told the PCM to turn on the check engine light and give you the P0700 so you would know. You'll have to have a shop connect a scanner capable of reading transmission specific codes.

P1684 is telling you the battery was disconnected in the last 50 starts.

Thank you. I understand the codes. I've already taken it and had it scanned. Something like "TCM internal malfunction" or something like that. It just seems odd that it wouldn't stay in limp mode all the time, so thought it might be something else causing the malfunction.

When transmission goes into limp in again, don't turn the key off. I need to know what the active codes are. Also check the ground cable at the battery.

Thanks. I'm putting in a remanufactured TCM that's delivering today. If doesn't fix it, I'll try to let you know. I got my p codes from flash method, so I can't leave the key on.
