Recently the cruise control on my 98 Grand Caravan has begun to shut off while in use. I can't seem to get an absolute pattern of when or why, but it seem that if I brake and then attempt to resume, the control is dead. I can reactive it by turning the switch off for a couple of seconds, but it is a temporary fix at best.

 

Could be a clockspring problem , a lot of the vans from this era had a recall to replace this due to early failure .
