What vehicle are you referring to? Year, model, engine size, mileage, any recent work done? Are you experiencing overheating issues? The fans only operate under certain conditions. How are you testing them?

Sorry, guess that would help! 2002, 3.3L, grand Caravan sport, 157,000. It started to overheat the other day after I exited the freeway and was in stop and go traffic. I got to my house and popped the hood. There was a radiator leak at the top right (facing it). The water was very low. The transmission fluid was low. I added a quart of Trans fluid, replaced radiator, filled with new coolant. Now fans do not work, still over heating. Fan blades freely spin so not seized, replaced relay mounted on inside bumper.. still go action. bypassed fans with jumper wire.. they work. Unsure what to do now... oh, checked fuse too, OK. Could the temperature sensor be culprit? If the sensor is not working, does it not get the message that the engine is hot, therefore sending a signal to the PCM that the fans need to come on>? Im trying to figure the chain of command... hot engine.. sensor..PCM..fans? Could resetting the PCM help? If we ran a scan, would it tell us whats up? Thanks! I have not been able to drive it for a week now.. very stressful..

Not sure if that engine has separate sensors for coolant (one for the gauge, the other for the PCM). Thank you for the additional information, it makers it easier when we don't have to constantly ask questions to narrow it down. There are some Caravan experts in this section that will chime in here soon. Welcome to the forum, BTW.

Looks like just one sensor, $15 at autozone. What about the thermostat? Checked it? Did you use the proper kind of coolant when you refilled?

With the fan not coming on with either engine temperature rise or after turning on the A/C it usually means the PCM has failed or there's a wiring issue.
