[4th Gen : 01-07]: Heater blower
I recently took my vehicle to a private shop for a repair. Upon picking it up I find that the heater blower no longer functions. It has always run strong on all settings. This mechanic also owns the identical vehicle.A mutual acquaintance told me that he has been suspected of removing good parts from customer s vehicles again while working on something unrelated. I have personally heard him on the phone telling people he may have the used part they required numerous times. When going back to ask about my heater he had a part on his bench that looked like like my blower motor. I know for a fact that this was never previously replaced on my vehicle.Would the original Dodge part have a serial or code that would specifically identify it as being original to my vehicle?
I agree the blower motor probably won't have a serial number traceable to your vehicle. But Chrysler and other car manufacturers do change part numbers every now and then, for example if they change suppliers or if they make some kind of design improvement that doesn't affect form, fit, or function. If the blower motor is stamped with a part number, you might be able to narrow down a range of years that that part number was used, and that might tell you whether the part was factory equipment on a 2005 van or bought from a Chrysler parts department or AutoZone in 2016.
That being said, it sounds like you have a legal issue that the volunteers on this forum probably can't help you with. I suggest you Google "auto repair laws in [your state/province]" or consult with the BBB in your area.
