Question '02 Caravan ~ Phantom Wiper is Back. [RESOLVED]

Vehicle: 2002 Dodge Caravan SE (3.3, V6)

The phantom wiper blade issue is back. Was wondering what is the latest solution to it.

I came to my car this evening to discover there was no power whatsoever. There was a faint clicking coming from the main fuse box. The wiper blades were in an upward position hinting there were running all night and died at that position. This phantom wiper blade and clicking noise has happened several times before.

I already replaced the FRONT WIPER ON relay with a new one and swapped the FRONT WIPER HI/LO relay with the FRONT WIPER ON. The clicking noise continued when i removed the Front Wiper Hi/Lo Relay. HOWEVER, the clicking stopped when i removed the Front Wiper On Relay. I reinstalled both relays (clicking noise continued) and disconnected the wire harness attaching to the wiper motor. This did not stop the clicking noise.

Around 3 years back i did replace the Multi-Function Switch with a new one but the phantom wiper issue has been occurring for the past 5 months, random.

I would really like to track down the EXACT PROBLEM. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If it werent so random it'd be easier to track down.

UPDATE:

RESOLVED

My multifunction switch was replaced from stock to some new alternative perhaps 2 years ago. It was switched out because i thought it was the source of another problem. I was wrong since the problem persisted however i left the new multifunction switch in place.

To resolve the phantom wiper issue i re-installed the original, working multifunction switch and VIOLA no more phantom wiper. The issue hasnt appeared since back in April.

So if anyone is having a phantom wiper issue with the Dodge Caravan start with your multifunction switch. The genuine Dodge part worked fine but the alternative version from another manufacturer apparently failed despite being newer. I will locate the manufacturer of my failed switch so you can avoid them too.

Thanks for posting the solution to your problem.
I also had weird problems with an aftermarket multifunction switch in my 2000 Caravan. In my case, the 4-way flashers came on by themselves. Mopar switch fixed the problem.
