Default 2008 GC 4.0 dies randomly

Having problem with 2008 GC 4.0 dying with out any warning.

Happens when stopping, accelerating and cruising at hwy speeds...no pattern at all. engine hot and cold.

8 times in one day, then nothing for couple days. Mechanic "can't replicate" so not sure where to turn.

Had the ignition replaced as part of recall.

Any ideas??? very dangerous and frustrating.

I agree with TNtech's suggestions, particularly the EGR valve. I have seen many cases, on this and other forums, where replacing the EGR valve fixed the stalling problem.

Here's an example:
2009 GC stalling/shutting off while driving

Thanks all; had the EGR replaced and seems to have done the trick; 3 days and not issue. Also seems smoother idle.

Appreciate the help!

Found this old thread and thought I'd resurrect it with a related question. I'm getting a P0404 code. I've already removed the EGR valve and sprayed it to hell with carburetor cleaner, but I still get the code and an occasional engine dying at idle particularly when A/C is on. I've found YouTube videos showing how to clean it that involve pushing the valve open with a small screwdriver and spraying inside with carb/throttle body cleaner, but the design of the Grand Caravan EGR valve has weird bend that doesn't seem to allow for this. Am I stuck having to buy a new one, or has anyone else had any luck cleaning one of these EGR valves? We have some long road trips coming up so I'd like to get this fixed.
