2001 caravan se idles rough when stopping or stoped
Not sure if it's the same thing that happened to mine, but I'll try to explain it.
Ours would almost die when slowing down or sitting idle. This was whether it was a cold engine or warm engine. It got so bad you would have to ride the brake and gas when you came to a stop.
After trying several things (new fuel filter, fuel cleaning stuff), we had the Auto Idle Sensor (AIS) replaced. The part cost $20 and the labor was around $40. It only took a few minutes for them to do it. From what the mechanic said, it's a very common failure on this model. Ever since, it has ran fine. Looking back it may have been something easy enough to replace myself, but it was the local mechanic that figured it out, so I never even seen the part get changed or I would offer some help on how to do it.
