I bought a used dodge caravan from a family friend last year at 48k miles (now 64k) and during the cold months, I hear a weird sound while the engine is cold. I took some video of it today. First 2 videos are cold and the third is after about a 5-10 minute break so the engine could warm up.


Any ideas on what that sound is?

 

Valvetrain noise. Sounds normal. Especially if it goes away after it warms up.

 

First I can hear an exhaust leak, and then either the power steering has a lot of air in the system. Or maybe you have a bad idler bearing or tensioner. Could also be a bad water pump bearing. I would remove the fan belt and start the engine. This way you can tell if the noise or sound is belt driven.
