[3rd Gen : 96-00]: EGR code fix
My 2000 caravan (3.0 V6) has a check engine light and the code is a PO401 for "EGR flow insufficient". Does this mean i need to replace my EGR valve or is there another fix?
Do you live in an emissions area?
I've done it 2 ways.
1: Remove the EGR completely and find a non-EGR ECM.
2: Leave the EGR components intact but block them off. Replace the EGR transducer, give it vacuum, plug it in.
The other way is to replace the EGR components, but the new parts don't last (at times they don't even work), and it gets expensive. It is however the correct way to fix it.
Another thing to be aware of is it may not even be an EGR issue at all. It could be a vacuum issue or another sensor failing causing the EGR not to operate properly.
