2009 transmission issue
I have recently purchased a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 4.0 engine and 47000 miles on it. Turns out it has a transmission issue, I brought it back to the dealer under an implied warranty I was told by the dealer that the trans was "done" and i can either A. get it replaced for free with a used transmission or B. pay a thousand bucks and get a rebuilt transmission put in. I was not provided any other details about why my tranny is done, mileage of new transmission or what the new tranny is out of, but i was told I would receive a 30 day warranty on the new transmission. please help me on how you think I should proceed I'm really at a loss in the whole situation and just dont know what to do. Do i take one of there options or get my van towed to a trans shop, pay normal price but get a real warranty? Do i need to worry about there "new" transmission being compatible with the 4.0 or anything else?

I have been leaning towards that way. Kinda not trusting the dealer right now. I do keep circling back to the free option to give me some time before spending $$, but that opens up other worries about that used tranny.
thank you for taking the time to read my post and giving me your opinion. Defiantly helpful

Im not sure, it could be. I had the dealer look at it and they say the tranny, i did have it swapped once and it was still acting funny, it would shift roughly from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 but then shift good ( not horrible but not acceptable for being fixed), i brought it back and they swapped in another tranny, i am due to pick it up this week and see if it is better. If it is not better i will mention the alternator and see what they say. Thank you for the input, i am really at a loss with what is going on here and the dealer is not very informative, only reason i bring it back so far is because it is free for now, otherwise i would bring it to a shop i have experience with. Thanks again
