[4th Gen : 01-07]: Radio won't turn on
Hi, I just had my windshield replaced and now the radio and clock will not turn on. YouTube says I need a radio code to unlock it. They say the radio display should say that on its display when it is turned on. The display on the radio doesn't ask for a code. It looks dead. The fuses under the hood have been checked and are good. There are three LEDs on the equalizer (bass/mid/treble) that blink constantly. If I pull out the radio fuse under the hood, those lights go off. Some kind of power is getting to some portion of the radio. The CD player will load and eject a CD, but no sound is heard through the audio system. Do you think it likely the circuit in the radio has burned up? Thanks for any advise you can give.
My Van is a Dodge Grand Caravan is a 2001. They say my radio is too old and they won't pay for a new one because it probably burned out anyway. Like I said there are three LEDs on the equalizer (bass/mid/treble) that blink constantly. If I pull out the radio fuse under the hood, those lights go off. Some kind of power is getting to some portion of the radio. I've had answers from FixYa that said it is just a code I need. The problem is when I talk to others they say the radio display should tell you, you need a code and you CAN enter the numbers (if you can get them from Dodge) VIA the radio display. The display is dead black.
I have an 08 Darango that has the same problem for the 2nd time. 1st time is was under warrantee and they replaced the radio. Now I have the same problem, but I won't be replacing it with a factory radio. I'm pretty sure it's a poor radio with flaw that causes it to quit working.
