[5th Gen : 08+]: 2012 Radio Upgrade w/ Sony AVX-AX100 - backup camera retention?
I completed the swap from an OEM Uconnect 430N to Sony's AVX-AX100 Media Receiver. Great unit, love having Apple Carplay and Android Auto in the van. As usual, installation took longer than planned but it went smoothly with everything working from the get go
In order to retain my steering wheel controls and tie into the existing harness, I used AXXESS's ASWC-1 & XSVI-6522-N
AV modules. I soldered and applied heat shrink tape to all connections and neatly bundled all the wires with plastic ties. Looks professional... Last component to connect is the OEM backup camera that came with my van. The Sony AVX-AX100 has a standard RCA video input connector but I have no idea what wires in the van's existing harness carries the signal from the camera and whether or not there are additional power cables to connect. I found this interface cable on eBay that may just be what I need. On the photo, I see 3 leads to connect, Video positive & negative and a ground wire which would makes sense assuming the camera power is connected to the reverse lights. As anyone done a similar radio upgrade and retained the use of the OEM backup camera?

I found an interface camera harness for my GC that is plug and play and allows to retain the backup camera on third party radios. Make sure you also connect the harness loose wire to negative, if not, camera signal will be a bit fuzzy.
Backup camera harness I found on eBay (see link above) worked great. It plug and play, just make sure you connect the black wire to ground otherwise, the camera image will be a bit fuzzy. I added a switch on the dashboard to be able to cut off the illumination signal to the radio so, I can keep my lights on a daytime and still have the radio display in daytime. I installed the USB port in the small storage box in the center console. Nice to ride the van with Apple CarPlay, it feels like I am driving a 2018 model
Below are a couple photos of the installation.
