[5th Gen : 08+]: Wiper motor overload
I just joined this forum because of a specific problem that I had yesterday. I own a 2013 Dodge Caravan SXT. I had the wiper blades parked in the up position off of the windshield overnight. In the morning I moved them to the down position and turned them on. On the way down the passenger side wiper caught on a piece of ice that was frozen to the windshield and the wiper arm continued down so that it destroyed the wiper blade. I would've thought that when the wiper motor encountered that much resistance, It would've shut off without damaging the blade or anything else. Can someone tell me how the wiper system is supposed to work in regards to some sort of overload protection?
Thanks.
