Default 05 caravan suddenly no forward or reverse

05 grand caravan no warning signs. Was shifting fine while driving then the rpms went up but not the mph. coasted to stop. no forward or reverse. It will go into park and wont roll, and as I move shiftier into reverse or drive the rpms change a little. Checked fluid level was good. (towed home) I pulled a cooler line and when engine stared it squirted all over. Pump working. Will a speed censor cause this or a shift controller? I hate to put a lot of money into this old of a van, But if it can be fixed with a few parts rather than an overhaul it will be worth it. any suggestions?

Did you check to make sure the linkage is ok?

Yes linkage is all good and moves on tranny when selecting gears. Dropped the pan and a small amount of fine shavings on the pan magnet, no other junk. Fluid is red.
Could the solenoid pack cause no shift and no limp mode? OR the "electric box" inside the fender go bad and cause this condition?

I have seen, several times, the CV axle either popping out/disengaging from the transaxle or breaking either internally or in the final drive. I believe if you raise both front wheels, with the vehicle in park, spin one wheel. The gears should make the other wheel turn in the opposite direction. If it just spins itself, NOTE...in park... look at where the axle goes into the transaxle and see if you can visually see the surface of the axel where the seal is supposed to ride. If it's not seated in the axle popped out and maybe just be a simple case of replacing the C clip retainer and reinstalling the axle. Worst case scenario you may have to replace the axle if you can determine if it's broken internally in the cage.

This just happened to me too! I have a 2000 GC 3.3 and pulled away from a stop sign fine and when the trans went to shift into second gear I heard a 'PPeeeUUUUUU' sound like a high pressure was released. I tried all forward gears then reverse and nothing but engine revving. I turned off engine and pulled key out to get out and look under van to see if anything was leaking... nope, all dry. Got into van started van and moved gear shift from park quickly and directly to 'L' and heard the engagement of trans and I had forward motion. So I thought I might be able to shift manually instead, so I started to drive away and when I shifted to '3' all I got was revs and lost forward motion. I tried to put it back to 'L' but got nothing but revs.
The TRICK is to turn the key off all the way to where the dash lights go off and then start the van and ONLY move the gear shift to 'L' directly. Then the van will drive perfectly up to about 25 mph, pulls fine and STRONG. So I was able to get it home using side roads! When in any other position and the engine just revs I'm not hearing any funny noises from trans... Uuuggghhhh! The van has 127k miles and was running perfect before this.

Try this procedure and let me know if you can get the van to move forward.

After pulling the tranny and complete tear down I find no broken parts. Everything looked in great shape. However, when dissembling the valve body, one valve was stuck. I could push it back and forth but it had a spot that it would hang up on. A little emery on the spot and re assembled. Installed a new torque converter for good measure and all is good now. If only I would have checked the valve body first I would have saved all that time and aggravation of pulling the tranny.

as400pgmrs, You need to drop the pan and see what it looks like in there first.
