Default Battery light and other lights came on & 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan died while driving

I searched the forum but I couldn't find anything 'specific' for my problem
My 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan has been running fine for years. Thursday, I was coming home from work and the battery light turned on in the instrument panel. Then the rpm's went to 4000 and the speedometer went down to 50 mph. Then the ABS light came on along with the brake light and the airbag light and the van died while driving.
Had to pull the steering wheel hard to the right to get off the road. My wife came and we jumped my van but it wouldn't go over 30 mph and the same lights came on and it died again.
I had my van towed to my house and I checked the voltage on the battery when the van was off and it had only 9 volts.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what's going on.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
Would you think the alternator is bad because the battery was 9 volts? Like it wasn't charging it?

No way to tell until you get your battery and charging system checked. A functioning alternator will put out @14.5 dc with the engine running. A good battery will read @12.5 volts static.

I found some instruction for my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan.to test for continuity and to check the alternator.
I had continuity from the alternator to the positive lead on the battery, so I knew the wire was good.
For the alternator, I wasn't getting 14.5 vdc. So it's the alternator.
Checked the battery and it was dead.
Thanks for your help.
