Should a Dodge stratus stereo go into a Caravan if they are the same year and look identical? It was a uconnect system. When I ddi this, the stereo lights up for 5 seconds then nothing.

Ideas?

I went to a wrecker a found one for $14

I have a 2012 Caravan.

 

I believe the newer stereos have an anti-theft feature whereby the vehicle's computer checks the stereo for a code at startup. If it doesn't see what it expects to see, the stereo powers off. A dealer should be able to unlock it for you. Call the dealer first to verify this.

 

The stereo I got from the wrecker does not have the anti-theft. The one I took out does.
