Angry Warranty Ext? getting jerked around HALP!

Hi all. I have a 2012 DGC. We are almost at 100,000 miles, and were having issues with transmission transitions, engine light on, etc. took it to transmission mechanic who found out that we needed some major work...new cylinder head etc. OUCH. however, this mechanic also remembered that Chrysler had issued a WARRANTY EXTENSION ( not an extended warranty) on this problem if car is under 100K miles and advised us to take it to the dealer. The official term for this is WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR MISFIRE DTC’S/MIL ON
with just 50 miles to go before we hit 100K, we got it to the dealer, who confirmed the problem and confirmed that it is covered uNDER the warranty extension. We thought we were darn lucky and were very relieved to know it was covered since we have a very low income, disabled mom, etc. this is when our troubles began.
The dealer had the car for over a week before letting us know there was a national shortage of this part. With 3 kids in 3 different schools and no bus option, we had to have transportation. We have one other very rough “work truck” with no AC, and live in Tucson where temps are 101-105 lately. We gotta have something to get around! The dealer said “we dunno nuthin bout providing a rental car...call the manufacturer” So we called Chrysler, finally got to a customer service person who has been telling us “it’s just kind of our choice if we want to provide you with a rental car” Our van has been at the dealer for two weeks now. We rented a car out of pocket, cheapest one we could get. Manufacturer still hadn’t confirmed what they will cover or not. No idea when the part will be ready but possibly NEXT YEAR. WTF.
i researched the warranty extension. Info online states that warranty extension will operate under the terms of an extended warranty. And extended warranty clearly states that a rental car will be covered.
So....what do we do now? Why are they jerking us around and being so vague? Anybody else have this problem? What was the outcome? Surely we can’t be the only ones!
Thanks in advance for any advice.
