Hello - I'm having to get a replacement tailgate from the junkyard so I called to make sure all the 2001-2007's use the same tailgate. The parts guy said that the 2001 part is good for all models through 2010. So if I find a 2010 caravan at the junkyard, that tailgate would fit my 2007? thanks in advance for anyone who knows about this detail.

 

2008 and up are a different body style, the tailgates will NOT fit your 2007.

 

yes, I realize they are a totally different body style (and generation). That's why I was surprised when the Dodge parts house said the part number was the same for all 2001-2010 Grand Caravans. So it looks like that information does not necessarily mean they are the same parts, even though the part number is the same? Or was the parts manager just a moron?

 

The part numbers are not the same:
2001-2003 Liftgate part number: 05018441AB
2004-2006 Liftgate part number: 05135945AA
2007 Liftgate part number: 05135945AB
2008-2010 Liftgate part number: 05054266AB

I believe the 05135945AA part number was superseded by the 05135945AB part number so 2004 thru 2007 liftgates should fit your 2007.

I wouldn't rule out the 2001 thru 2003 liftgates, they might also fit your 2007.

The 2008 thru 2010 will definitely not fit.

I would say the parts manager was misinformed!
