Reading the other comments, I see you guys are mentioning the fan operation could be impacted by several things. I think tonight I will drive the van around for a half hour, including on the highway, and watch the temp gauge. I'll try with and without air, basically all varieties of vehicle operation. Also parking for a while at idle, etc. If there is no indication of overheating, then I guess I will consider the vehicle doing what it should be doing in terms of the fan?

 

once a vehicle is moving over 40mph....the fan isn't needed/basically does nothing...there is enough air moving thru the rad.

get a scan tool and view live coolant temp data...its not getting over 104*. block the air flow thru the rad with cardboard, close the hood and idle the engine...then it will get to 104*C
