[3rd Gen : 96-00]: Ignition switch dodge caravan
Hi I have a dodge caravan plymoth 1998 it had a parasitic battery drain I found that it was the iOd fuse so took that out no drain started the car 2 days later then left it for 3-4 days and the battery was dead again then found that the ignition switch was drawing
so can I just swap out the switch or could it be another problem

Testing for this fault should be easy to do by turning on the dome light or dash lights and watching their response.
Are you able to wiggle the key within the cylinder and get the lights to turn on and off? Try wiggling it top to bottom and front to back as well as turning the cylinder slightly so as to see if the ignition turns on (or to accessory) w/out actually turning the cylinder to that position.
Does it make a difference if you change the tilt of the column?
If the lights respond to wiggling the key, the switch needs to be replaced.
If the ignition/accessory turns on without fully rotating the cylinder, it could just be the cylinder is dirty and needs to be cleaned.
If adjusting the tilt affects it, there’s most likely some wires that have rubbed thru and are making contact with each other. Remove the column trim covers to inspect. If you don’t see anything the switch is defective.

So I pulled the iOd and ignition switich fuse so there was no drain then when I started the car I put both fuses back in then when I tested again it said just the iOd was draining so I pulled the iOd fuse said no drain put then after stating car again it says that the exta is drawing I’m confused
