[5th Gen : 08+]: Cylinder 2 misfire on 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, anyone else?
Dodge CaravanThe Dodge Caravan is the best selling mini van from Dodge. How many Dodge Caravan owners here at DodgeForum.com would agree? Discuss it now!
I have a 2019 Dodge Caravan GT with only 7500 miles on it. Unfortunately the 3 year warranty is finished.
I thought I had a transmission problem as it would bang several times on low RPM's when upshifting. Took it to Aamco transmission and they say I have a miss on #2 cylinder.
I never seen a check engine light but the miss came up on there diagnostic tool. Just wondering if I have the head problem even with the low mileage.
I will change the plug and coil pack but seeing this post I wonder if it will work. Any thoughts
Thanks

Hope you were successful.
Recommend you change all the plugs and packs, not just the affected cylinder, as the others will likely fail in the coming year.
Also may be worth trying a fuel additive for some superficial cleaning of the injectors. Recommend Gumout or Berryman.
See my post on page 3 for my experience and solution.
2016 Dodge Grand Caravan misfire cylinder #2 122000km
We bought this van new. It's our family's first new car purchase. At 122000 kms check engine light cam on and when scanned showed p0302 miss fire cylinder #2. Code was cleared and came back. Replaced all spark pluges and cylinder 2 ignition coil, light came back on. Replaced cylinder 2 injector. Light came back on. Compression test looks very slightly lower on cylinder 2 than the rest. Will do a leak down test on cylinder 2. Let you know how it goes tomorrow. I'm also calling the dealer where I bought the van. Hope they can help me out.
Leak down test was performed and minimal leak down found. Dealership and Chrysler Canada said the van is out of warranty and to keep all receipts for repairs concerning this issue as it my become covered under waranty in the future.
Not sure what to do next. I was told by a chrysler technician to just change the cylinder head.

Seems unlikely you have a leak, maybe just a slight variability across the cylinders, or a worn gasket.
Thanks for your input. I'm not sure what you mean by a worn gasket. Compression is good...there is no leak down.
PROBLEM SOLVED....lost a lot of sleep over this. After removing the camshafts. I found play in the first exhaust rocker and both exhust lifters were mushy in cylinder 2. The assumption that a worn lifter or rocker would be noisy is false. The funny thing is I checked for play on all the rockers with the camshaft still on and cam lobes facing up and felt no play. I also tried to compress the lifters by pressing on the rocker lifter side with a wood mallet and felt no compression. The question now is how many lifters and rockers should I replace.

The same happened to my 2018 model. in addition to the coil, spark plugs, fuel injector, i had to change the Rocker Arms on cylinder 2 and the check engine light went out for good. This work was done by the dealer
I have this same issue (99k miles). The mechanic replaced the plug, the coil, and the fuel injector. Now he's going to have to open up the cylinder and see what's wrong. It seems like this is a recurring problem with this vehicle.
Chrysler has a tsb #s1609000004 to replace the lash adjuster and roller finger follower before removing the head. if nothing changes...replace the head. have the shop quote out the parts...if they are cheap you could try it first. It they are big $...replace the head.
I had the same issue with my 2017 Grand Caravan GT. 79,000 miles. Cylinder 2 misfire.
replaced spark plugs, coils and fuel injector. None fixed the issue.
Took it to the dealer and found it had a burnt exhaust valve and it neede cylinder head replacment. cost was $2,700 USD.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the most common fix for these stubborn Cylinder 2 misfires.
Yep. A decade later the 3.6 v6 is still cracking heads and dropping valves seats. First question you get when you try to sell one "Have the heads been done?" I sold my 2010 Caravan recently. As a minimum at least it had the last of the trusty 3.3 v6. Now driving a 2022 Toyota 4Runner and loving it. Now officially done with Chrysler. Thanks to all who graced me with their knowledge in the past. Signing off.
