Default Water or ??? leak ???

I just noticed a wet stain at the rear ceiling passenger side .. high up right in the corner.

I actually noticed it because I saw a dirty line of water on the lower area ... right over where the AC is.

What would be up there leaking ... dirty brown liquid?

I know the AC is mounted low in the back passenger corner ... is the heater core down low also or is it mounted up in the ceiling?

Just wanted to know if there is anything I should look for before tearing out the trim .. and maybe the head liner.

Thanks .... Mike

Heater core is mounted down low, by the ac black box, right rear area. I don't know what's up top that could be dripping that color liquid. Makes me think rusty color water though. Hopefully someone else will chime in. The only headliners that I am familiar with (Land Rovers) is once they are creased, it's near impossible to get the crease out. So, if you have to support the liner somehow, have a game plan.

If it looks to be coming from the corner, inspect the rear hatch seal. Look for areas where it looks flattened out, stretched or tearing. Clean out any debris you find. If you have 3rd row windows that open, open them and look for the same thing.

If the seals look ok, get a ladder or stool and inspect the top of the van. Look for any areas where rust is forming or water is getting trapped.

Got it!

It is high up so the only thing I can "guess" at is the roof racks (or what ever the proper name is) leaking.

Hmmmm ... last time I remember something like this is when dad put a roof rack on the1967 station wagon ...

Guess it is time to start taking things apart.

I just wanted to make sure these was nothing up there I should know abut that could be leaking.

Thanks ..... Mike
