[5th Gen : 08+]: Strong gas smell
I have a 2017 Grand Caravan and a 2015 Towne & Country. The 2015 was just at the dealer yesterday because it died while driving it. It was a cracked fuel line at the fuel pump. The dealer replaced the line and it runs fine. The issue is I am getting a strong gas odor around and in the van. I ran it through a carwash with underbody spray and checked for leaks. There is nothing leaking anywhere. You can smell it standing outside the van when parked, running or not. While driving you can't smell it inside while you are moving. When stopped at a light it seems the gas smell comes through the vents. The windows are closed at this time. Any thoughts on a cause?
You wouldn’t be smelling gas if there wasn’t a leak - it’s probably just that the leak isn’t large enough to be dripping off the van.
If you normally park in a garage, leave it outside for a night (with the windows cracked if possible) to allow the smell to fully dissipate. Open the hood, then turn the key on without starting the engine. Try to determine if the smell originates from the engine bay or gas tank.
It’s possible the fuel line wasn’t fully seated on either end or the seals were damaged during installation.

Took it back to the dealer and they looked at it. They said it was from the gas shooting everywhere under the hood when they changed the line. They cleaned it up more and I the rest just burned off this week. I don't smell anything anymore.
