[5th Gen : 08+]: 2011 Caravan wont start
My wife was driving the Caravan yesterday with no issues and this morning would not start if I turn the key to the on position the check engine light stays on but there is no codes and there is a red lightning bolt
If I try to start it it turns over but never starts
If I try to start it it turns over but never starts
Hopefully this response isn’t too late. The red lighting bolt indicates a problem with the electronic throttle control system (throttle body and related wiring as well as accelerator pedal position sensors). It seems unusual there’s no codes.
Also I’ve never seen one prevent a car from starting- usually it will just prevent throttle control with the engine running.
Check fuses and inspect the wiring harness for the throttle body. Unhook the TB connector and inspect for corrosion. If nothing obvious then apply a thin film of dielectric grease to the female side and reconnect.
If no change unhook the negative battery cable for 10 minutes. Hook it back up and then turn the key on but don’t try to start it- leave it in for about 30 seconds to give the PCM a chance to attempt calibration. If you don’t see the light after this, try to start.
