just picked up a 2018 Grand Caravan with 2 metal keys but only one fob.
Getting mixed messages off the internet as to whether I can program a second one myself?
Dealer pages seem to say you can, others say not?

Not 100% clear on which key fob each button is being pressed? Presumably cannot be pressing the panic button on the working key as it is buried in the ignition at the time?

Anyone managed this on a 2018?

 

You need that other key fob for your protection whomever has the other fob can unlock and take your van. What being explain in those instructions is how to reprogram the function buttons on the key fob that has lost it's programming. All the actions are for that extra key fob in your hands presumably not working to lock or unlock the van in order to program a key fob to start the vehicle you need either a locksmith who has key fob programmer or a Dodge Chrysler dealership. You can also get a programmer online from Dorman Solutions you also have to take in consideration with that other key fob lurking out there you might want to get the WIN module and key fobs reprogrammed to a different set codes for your safety then you'll need a locksmith or dealer.

I get the security concerns, but once I do get a new fob programmed, along with the one I currently have, then the codes all change and the missing one will not work, correct?

This seems to be the only Dorman part for my 2018 and I have remote start (not push button start), so it sounds like it is not for me, and it states that a locksmith is still required?

I believe that's only the case you've got the remote start option the plain 3 button fob can be reprogrammed with the transmitter yourself. Your best option for your sake with missing key fob is take it in to get the WIN module reflashed and the key fobs programmed to another set of codes I know in order to do that you have to have the manufacturer PIN code that came with the vehicle the Dodge Chrysler can access those codes I'm uncertain if locksmiths has the same access to the manufacturers vehicle PIN codes.
