[5th Gen : 08+]: Camshaft Position Sensor A P0340
Hello dear Dodge Community,
My 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6L went a bit bananas... 120k, pretty nice condition. Last Fall in October I got a check engine and heard unusual engine sounds. My scanner showed "P0340 $07e8 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Bank 1 or Single Sensor" error. After watching some Youtube videos on the issue I bought a new one from Lordco and changed it (Bank 1 is the one that is closer to the firewall). Everything was quite well until February when once I saw a check engine again with the same error on scanner...I decided to give it another chance and just erased errors several times until one cold morning my car refused to start (I heard only bump sound after key turning, not even cranking) but after 3rd attempt it started. So I ordered a new one and in March and again plugged it in near the firewall. A couple of weeks everything was good but then I noticed that MPG started to grow (on the car screen, from 13l per km to 14,1) but I didn't pay attention to this until this Monday when check engine appeared again and again scanner showed the same error. I agree that first sensor was somewhat fragile/faulty etc but twice in a row? It's unlikely... So what do I do next? I ran out of ideas - maybe change the front bank sensor to one from Lordco - I assume it's fine. Maybe change crankshaft position sensor underneath the engine... I don't know..
Any help is highly appreciated.
some advice I found on internet

+yea i went to firestone and they pulled up the codes 0340 and p0344 and said 3 things cause that issue with 70% of the time it was the cam sensor and another high percentage being crankshaft and then he said 2% of the time the fix was the timing belt he said labor alone would be 1100 for the timing belt so he said the best thing to do would be to replace the cam shaft sensor and the crank shaft and with military discount it cost me about 257. The car now shifts right and and starts up right and the codes are gone.
