Default Lifetime powertrain warranty issue

I took my 08 grand caravan with the 3.3L engine in to have the waterpump replaced under the lifetime warranty. When taking the pump off 1 of the bolts broke off into the timing cover. The tech attempted to use an easyout to remove the broken bolt and subsequently broke his easyout off in the timing cover. Now it needs a new cover that will be replaced under warranty. PROBLEM is the cover is on backorder and No one in the country apparently has a timing cover. Has anyone had an issue where they couldn't get a part for the warranty? What was their remedy?

Thanks

If it's backordered, not much you can do. Are there aftermarket replacements available?

Everything is on backorder. Factories are SOL right now. I wanted to buy a Jon boat soon but Bass Pro said they stopped making them 3mos ago because the cost and availability made it impractical to build them and they aren't selling any right now.

You will have to find it aftermarket and hope you can find one. If not then it's junkyard time but the price of metal scrap is so high that might be hard to buy as well.

Good luck. Let us know what you find.

Chrysler/Dodge dealerships won't install any aftermarket or sub par parts only genuine Mopar parts for warranty purposes.

I know that. I was more meaning to use an independent shop and aftermarket. Sorry for not being clearer

That would definetly defeat the purpose of having an extended lifetime powertrain warranty.

Could be an expensive decision if anything else went wrong with the powertrain afterwards.

Mopar I love you and I realize you work in the industry but believe me you're wrong. The laws are written such that they cannot deny you warranty work simply because you had a job done at a different shop. If it were me my lawyers would be so far up their *** they would be paying for the repair in the first place. So I'm not going to continue to argue with you. People have to have a vehicle and you're poking at him is not doing him any good. You're usually very helpful but there isn't a judge in the land that would not side with him if they denied future repairs because he had a repair done another shop.

Why argue. We have different opinions. Leave it at that. Sucks everyone feels the need to get the last word in all the time. Keyboard warriors. smh.
