[5th Gen : 08+]: 2011 GC Wont Start but not dead battery - shifter related
2011 Dodge GC Crew, V6, 155K
On occasion, when I go to start the van, I put my foot on the brake and when I turn the key to start it sounds like the starter engages but then then nothing happens, similar to the sound of a dead battery (no clicking sounds, more of just like a clunk). With my foot still on the brake, I turn the key back to off, then just back to the run position, I move the shift lever from park to drive and back to park, turn the key back to off, then back to start and the van starts as expected. Sometimes I need to repeat the procedure. This has been going for several years, starting to get more frequent.
Am I correct to suspect the problem is in the shifter?
