Default 2012 Caravan dies while driving won’t go in to park

My daughters 2012 Grand Caravan will die while she is driving and whatever gear it is in it stays in. It will not go into park however on the dash it shows it is in park. Took it to the dealership they changed the battery it worked until she got home and did it again. They changed out the transmission shifter sensor and that didn’t work. Fixed a “short” in the dash and that didn’t work. Does anyone have any ideas of what this can be and why nobody can diagnose and fix this? Thank you.

Remove the cable at the transmission, With the park brake on and someone sitting inside. Hold the brake pedal down and move the shifter at the transmission by hand. Move the shifter thru all detents and move it back to park. Release the brake and park brake. Is the transmission in park and will it start. The problem could be the shifter assy it shelf or the cable. But why was the vehicle stalling?
