Default Wheel Spacers?

I have a 2012 Grand Caravan SE.. It has the 16" wheels with the plastic wheel covers on it currently that are looking rather old and dingy. To make it look nicer and more up to date, I'm wanting to put the aluminum 17" wheels on it from the newer model grand caravans. I don't want some aftermarket wheels to be fancy, just stock wheels from an SXT trim level package..
Anyway, I found some 10 spoke aluminum 17"wheels off a 2014 grand caravan at a local scrapyard that were in great shape. Because of the larger wheel, I purchased new tires as well. Today I took it my local CDJR to have the new wheels and tires mounted and balanced. They put them on and it made my 2012 look sooo much nicer... However they showed me that the two front wheels were barely rubbing against the front calipers. The rear wheels were fine... So now I'm having them put my old wheels and tires back on and I feel like an idiot..

So now I'm at the point where I'm not trying to waste my money that I spent in the new wheels and tires. Could I put some really thin, like 3mm, wheel spacers on? Do you think this would look OK, and if possible, could someone point me in the right direction of which ones to buy.

Again, I'm not trying to pimp out my minivan, I just was wanting it to look somewhat nicer and newer.

Thanks

I have used wheel spacers in the past on cars, and I haven't had any issues with them... I think what you're suggesting is a perfect use case for wheel spacers. I say go for it
