I have had some issues recently with the brake/signal indicator bulb not working. Replaced bulbs worked for a while. Finally replaced the sockets on both sides and everything was fine for a couple months. I think I have figured out the issue, but not the cause.

Fresh start after sitting for a day the turn signals work fine. Step on the brake and then the signal and brake lights fail to work. I'm assuming there is a ground short in the brake line. Other ideas are welcomed, thank you.

 

Turns out this whole debacle was the result of double filament bulbs being used for the reverse lights, which required single filament bulbs. I never changed them since I acquired the van and the weird part is I've had the van for 3 years now.
