Default 2005 grand caravan 3.8L intermittent long crank to start

hello,
thank you for taking the time to read this post. van has been staring fine until recently. van has a long crank to start that is intermittent and doesn't matter whether the motor is hot or cold. once started, the motor /van runs strong with no issues. code typically says #6 misfire. had spark at #6, but swapped the coil, plug, and wire for #6 anyway, which did not help. installed a fuel pressure gage and have been driving around with the gage installed. it seems like the check valve in the fuel tank may be bleeding back, as overnight, the pressure dropped to 5#. but, the strange thing is the van started right up with 5#si of pressure. and just as odd, after a quick stop at a store, the pressure was around 30#si before starting and the van needed extra crank time to finally start. there are no issues with the battery or connections as the starter whips the motor over no problem. i have been thinking lack of fuel pressure at start-up, but after the van started right up w/ 5#si, i am not sure fuel is the issue.

i don't think there is press regulator on the rail, although i haven't poked around that much. i sprayed a bit of starter fluid in the intake a couple of times and it started fairly normal, but it is hard to say if this was merely coincidence. the fuel injector in #6 is firing and sounds normal.it seems like if the injector was the issue, it would be noticeable when idling and especially under load at 75mph.

maybe a sensor or the body control module? any suggestions would be appreciated.

tx

would anyone know if the coolant temp sensor on the 3.8L engine affects mixture at start up? that is, does the computer get a reading from the sensor to adjust start up mixture?
